Creating a Business From a Weekend Hobby
So who is the baker behind Teacupcakes Bakery? I am a laboratory scientist by day and a passionate home baker by night (well evening, but night sounded cooler). My love of experimentation began way back from childhood. I remember my mum bringing farmer’s market eggs home and I would take them from the kitchen counter. Using knowledge from Google and a shoe box, I was determined to hatch them. After three attempts and many eggs later, we had six chicks hatching in our dining room one sunny afternoon! My exploration for the new did not end there. What with all the eggs we had from my mini farm, I had to use them up and baking was the answer. I loved making biscuits, cakes, pastries and anything else you can put in an oven. Growing up in a very tea-centric family, we could not fully enjoy our baked goods without a cup of tea. I honestly cannot imagine a life without a hot brew and a baked goodie.
My love for tea, my passion for baking and my natural curiosity is what inspired Teacupcakes Bakery. In other words, I am a scientist with a sweet tooth and a tea addiction. I hope you enjoy following me on this journey and it inspires you to get experimenting in your own kitchens!
